Anatomy appointed to develop the brand for Oxford Street Development Corporation
We’re pleased to announce our appointment by the Greater London Authority to develop the brand strategy and identity for the Oxford Street Development Corporation (OSDC), the new organisation set up to lead the transformation of Oxford Street.
Our role is to shape the strategic direction for the brand and create an identity that helps the Development Corporation engage partners, stakeholders and the public as the programme moves forward.
Established by the Mayor of London, OSDC will lead major public realm improvements and the pedestrianisation of Oxford Street. Mayor Sadiq Khan’s vision is to create a world-class destination for shopping, leisure and culture, strengthening the street’s global reputation while making it a better place for Londoners and visitors alike.
Recognised around the world, Oxford Street is one of London’s most powerful global brand assets and one of the most visited shopping streets in Europe. The programme aims to build on that legacy by creating a pedestrian-friendly avenue with improved public space, outdoor events and a renewed mix of retail, culture and experiences.
The appointment builds on Anatomy’s work across destinations, infrastructure and the built environment, including Knightsbridge, the City of London, Vauxhall, East West Rail, Thames Freeport and The Eastern City Business Improvement District.

How emotion works in brand building and why it’s so effective for place brands
Emotions are central to the human experience. They help shape perceptions, guide decisions, and influence what we remember. All essential for effective brand building. But why? Emotions help us make quick, intuitive choices in the moment, by simplifying things (good/bad, approach/avoid, safe/risky). They interact with our core beliefs, opinions, memories and experiences to help us reach decisions rapidly. More often than not, we choose based on feeling rather than methodically analysing features.
